Buying Car Registration Numbers

To some people car number plates are simply a means of identifying a vehicle or its owner. This rather simple description however is rapidly becoming extinct as more and more people buy car number plates to add a personal touch to their vehicles and make them stand out in the crowd. From city slickers to rural farmers, people from all over the UK are finding and buying their very own private registration.

The growth of the internet has changed the face of the number plate world. In past times there were only a handful of number plate dealers operating in the UK. Finding a number plate involved trawling threw lists thousands of registrations advertised in the press. Nowadays there are many more reputable dealers selling car number plates who provide the ability to search millions of registration online in a matter of seconds. With so many car registrations to choose from the first time buyer may be overwhelmed. However by deciding on the type or registration you want and your budget the perfect car registration can be found with ease.

When you are buying car number plates you will notice a range of prices for the registration numbers. From as little as £99 to over £100000, there is a number plate to suit every budget. The price of a number plate is dependant several factors include the age, rarity and popularity of the registration. An £80 DVLA transfer fee is applicable to all number plate purchases and VAT is applicable to most sales.

If you want to buy cheap number plates search the prefix style range of registrations for your initials. In many cases you will be able to buy number plates with your initials for under £300 including VAT and transfer fee. Irish number plates are also a cost effective option if you want to buy car registrations. These include the letters I and Z so car registrations with names such as WIL, GIL and CAZ can be found at cheap prices.

For more prestigious registrations search for dateless and cherished number plates. Dateless car registrations have no age identifier and can be assigned to age vehicle regardless of age. Examples of dateless registrations are A 99, 95 PR, TMB 213 and JJ 3461. The most desirable car registrations are number plates with low numbers or the exclusive number 1.

When you buy car registrations numbers from number plate dealers such as http://www.capeplates.co.uk/ there are two options on offer. The first is to have the car registration number assigned to your vehicle. This can be done free of charge. You will need to send the dealer your V5 logbook, MOT certificate (if applicable) and a photocopy of your tax disc. In return you will receive a new tax disc displaying your new car registration number and an updated MOT. The V5 logbook showing the private registration will follow from DVLA Swansea.

The second option is to buy the registration number on certificate. Certificates are valid for 12 months and can be renewed annually. Buying a registration on certificate is a great option if the private number plate is a gift or you wish to assign the number plate at a later date. A DVLA number plate certificate enables you to buy car registration numbers even if you do not have a car to put it onto yet.

When you have a new registration number assigned to your vehicle you must remember to inform your insurance company. Once assigned to your car there are no other costs involved with owning a personal number plate so you are free to hit the road and show other drivers what they are missing.

Car Number Plates from European Countries

Although there are many new harmonisation laws across the European Union , each country still has its own unique way of identifying the vehicles registered in each country. The only common element is the blue border on the left edge of the number plate with the EU flag and country of origin and even this is optional in many member country. This article compares some of the member countries display of car registrations.

Beginning with England, number plates have black digits on white background ( front ) and yellow background ( rear ) with EU border optional number plates generally stay with the car during its lifetime. The numbering system has 7 digits with age and area identifiers. The first two digits are alpha characters and depict the area the car was first registered the next two are numbers giving the year of registration and the last three letters are random.France is adopting a new system in 2008 of 7 digits comprising two letters three numbers and two letters all purely random any area identify will be by a logo on the blue strip at the right hand side of the plate. The number plates will remain with the car during its life. France's current system comprises 3 or 4 numbers then two letters the two numbers , the last two numbers are the area identifier and if a car moves areas it is re-registered.Similar to England the digits are black on a white background for the front plate and black on yellow for the rear.

Spain adopted a new system in 2000 which comprises 4 numbers the 3 letters , black digits on white backgrounds front and rear, although the last 3 letters can give an indication of where and when the car was first registered it is not as blatant as the old system where the first two letters of the registration number indicated the capital city of the region concerned e.g M for Madrid and MA for Malaga. The blue EU border at the left hand side is compulsory on new number plates but was optional on the old system.Germany adopted its current system after re-unification in 1990 with a maximum of 8 black digits on a white background.

Much emphasis is placed on the area coding and if the owner changes his/her area of residence new plates must be bought. The registration will start with letters identifying the city and even district with numbers following. The exact combination of letters and numbers depends on how big the city/district is and how many cars are likely to be registered there.Curiously a space is considered to be a character so any a gap between digits would have a hyphen in it if it was not a space character. In between the area code and the rest of the digits there is a sticker signifying compliance with emmissions and safety testing.

The EU blue strip at the left is mandatory with the letter D for Deutschland. Italy adopted its current system in 1994 comprising 7 digits starting with two letters then 3 numbers then two letters. They discontinued the area identifier with this system but this proved unpopular so since there is option of having a regional code on the right hand side blue band which also displays the year of registration they also added the blue EU band at the LHS at this time. Both front and rear plates are white with black digits.Belgian car number plates differ enormously from the previous countries in that they are specific to the driver not the car and when you change the car you keep your registration number.

The rear plate is government supplied with red digits on a white background . It is usually mounted on a further plate which has the EU blue band at the right hand side. The front plate can either be the same as the rear or can be a European style similar to the previous countries covered earlier. Current numbering system is three letters followed by three numbers although because they are driver specific there are many still in use with one letter and four numbers or 2 letters and 3 numbers.Obviously area and age identifiers are not used as the registration number is specific to the driver not the car.Dutch number plates have followed the format of two numbers two letter two letters with hyphens between since 1999 , earlier systems were similar but varied the interchanged pairs of letters for numbers and vice-versa.Both plates are yellow with black digits and have the blue EU band at the right hand side.

Apart from special plates such as dealer and export plates the numbers and letters have no significance. Danish number plates normally have two letters followed by 5 numbers, displayed by black digits on white background since 1969 there is no area or age identifier although the number part signifies whether the vehicle is a car or bike etc. The blue EU band at the left border is not due to be implemented in 2008. It is interesting to note that the United Kingdom is the only country amongst the above to use plastic car number plate , nearly all others use pressed metal plates.

License Tag Search – How to Conduct Reverse License Tag Number Lookups?

Have you ever had a suspicious car that parked on your street that you wanted to trace the license plate on to see who it belonged to? Or maybe you have a new employee starting to work for you and you need to trace his or her license tag number as part of a driving records background check. No matter the reason, there are many people who want to conduct reverse license tag searches everyday.

Before you get started, you should know that there is no free reverse license tag search or lookup database available online or offline. About the only way you can get license tags searched for free is to have a police officer do it for you. Unless you have a good reason or a personal relationship, that's not likely to happen.

There are, however, other ways that you can accomplish your goal of getting owner information from a license tag number. You can contact a private investigator, pay for a search online with a public records database or hire an online firm to conduct your search. Those are about the only options.

License tag numbers are protected information under the Driver's Privacy Protection Act (or DPPA for short). Under this guideline, you can only order a license tag search if you meet certain search exceptions to the rule. For a complete listing of the exceptions to the DPPA, simply visit http://www.accessreports.com/statutes/DPPA1.htm.

In summary, if you need to conduct a reverse license tag search, you will need to have a valid DPPA approved reason to do so. If you do meet this exception, you can either:

  • Hire a licensed private investigator to conduct your license tag owner search
  • Pay an online firm to conduct the search for you.
  • Conduct your own search using public record database membership services
  • Request a law enforcement agent do the search for you.

Windows XP Repair- Tweaks for WinXP 1

LuvComputers PC Repair Tweak No.1

There are a few little things that you can do with your Windows XP installation that will improve it's performance. These include speeding up the boot time, shutdown time, and just overall general session experience.

Now a couple of these are straight forward, these Windows XP tweaks can be performed by most users, with a bit of experience. Some of the other's involve getting into the registry to make a few changes. If you don't know what a registry is, and the general outline and purpose of it, then I don't recommend that you go in there at all. Making a mistake inside the registry, in the wrong area or changing the wrong value, can have catastrophic repercussions on your operating system. So please, remember I said, "If you don't know what a registry is, it's purpose etc., DON"T GO IN THERE!!" There is my warning, I'm no longer responsible!! If perhaps you would still like to have a faster machine, and you are feeling uncomfortable with your saviness, ooh that's a cool word, saviness! I mean your not feeling as computer savvy as maybe you would like, then find somebody that does have a lot more experience with computers, and might be comfortable with places such as the registry. Here we go!

Windows XP Repair-Tweak No.1 1. To start off with, were going to start right from the desktop, no programs open. First we want to get into the properties of My Computer.

Click Start, and find the My Computer Icon in the menu. To get into the properties of My Computer, simply right click the icon, then choose properties, from the drop down menu.

In the properties box you will see a series of tabs. These are General , Computer Name, Hardware etc. The tab that were interested in here is the Advanced tab.

Open up the advanced tab. Incidentally, you will have to have administrative privileges on the computer that you are working on to make most of these changes. With that said, and with the Advanced tab opened up you will see three main categories in which you can access.

These are Performance, User Profiles and Startup and Recovery.

In the Performance area, click settings. In here we are just going to make a couple of changes.

As you can see there are four bullet points:

Let Windows choose what's best for my computer??

Adjust for best appearance

Adjust for best performance

Custom

Normally, in here I will choose Custom, and deselect everything in the list of graphic features, except for the very last two.

Use dropdown shadows for icon labels on desktop

Use visual styles on windows and buttons

Leaving the last two of these options checked still gives you a visually nice desktop, and you can still see visual styles on your windows and buttons.

Once you have made these changes go to the bottom of the Visual Effects tab and click Apply.

As for all of the one's that were left unchecked, most of these will use up memory because of the graphic nature of them, but for most users, if you didn't know what they did, you wouldn't miss them anyway. But having them unchecked will speed up your overall system performance by a smidge.

Alright, so that's the first part of Windows XP Repair-Tweak No.1.

For the next part, while we are in the properties of My Computer, on the Advanced tab, let's look down towards the bottom, and you will see the button Error Reporting.

Click Error Reporting and get into the window that opens up and disable error reporting by putting a check mark in the Disable Error Reporting box.

Error reporting is much the same as, "Your computer has performed an illegal action", from back in the Windows 98 days. Basically, your computer did something that your operating system didn't understand. Only now, Microsoft wanted you to report it to them. Frankly I don't see the point and also, this is mostly annoying more than anything, so go ahead and disable it, trust me, your not missing anything.

Thanks for now, please find part 2 in the database under my name:

Viruses & Worms Hackers

Hackers have become very good at writing computer viruses and worms and have caused literally billions of dollars in damage. You have probably heard about the more damaging viruses on the news. And there is a good chance that you have been infected with a virus or worm yourself, or you know someone who has. You may not even know you have been infected in most cases if you do not have the right anti-virus protection.

Viruses in the past have been more of an expensive nuisance than anything, infecting millions of computers with no real purpose. Viruses of the past caused performance problems on computers, possibly even shutting them down, forcing victims to have a professional remove the virus or reformat the computer. But the resulting damages has been staggering.

* There are over 500 new viruses and worms released on the Internet each month and

* At least 82% of current anti-virus users have been recently infected with a virus.

* There is less than 33% of those using anti-virus are working from a current anti-virus database.

*The New, fast moving viruses and worms can infect hundreds of thousands of computers in a matter of a few hours.

* It can take many hours, even days, for security firms to create an anti-virus signature to defend against new viruses. Everyone is very susceptible to infection during that time.

* You can be infected through emails, instant messenger, downloads and by simply surfing the web.

Viruses are not going to go away by any stretch of the imagination and neither will those who create viruses. There is truly no absolute 100% method to keep out viruses but we can take certain preventative measures to guard ourselves against hackers.
